OMAN'S GREEN FUTURE: ELECTRIC MOBILITY and TOURISM LAW

Oman is making impressive strides towards a greener and more sustainable future by embracing modern technologies and promoting eco-friendly initiatives. Two key areas of focus are electric mobility and tourism legislation, as the Ministry of Transport, Communications, and Information Technology spearheads efforts to revolutionise transportation and enhance the tourism sector.

Electric Mobility Initiatives
The Ministry of Transport, Communications, and Information Technology in Oman is taking the lead in promoting electric mobility across the country. They have embarked on a project to distribute electric vehicle (EV) charging stations strategically, covering 90 locations along Oman’s roadways. In Muscat Governorate, 49 stations will be strategically placed on highways and public areas as follows: 18 stations in Bowsher, two stations in Muscat, six stations in Muttrah, and 22 stations in Al Seeb.

In the North Al Batinah Governorate, there are ten charging stations distributed as follows: one station each in Sohar and Shinas, two stations each in Liwa and Saham, and four stations in Al Suwaiq.

Regarding the Al Dakhiliyah Governorate, there are eight charging stations distributed as follows: seven charging stations in Nizwa and one charging station in Manah. Meanwhile, the Al Wusta Governorate has four charging stations in Haima (three stations) and one station in Al Duqm.

In the Dhofar Governorate, there are 12 charging stations, including four stations in Thumrait, three stations in Mughsayl, and five stations in Salalah. As for the Musandam, Al Buraimi, Al Dhahirah, and Al Sharqiyah South Governorates, each has one charging station. Additionally, there are four charging stations in border regions.

Tourism Legislation Advancements
In addition to efforts on electric mobility, the State Council has made significant progress in tourism legislation. They have discussed and approved the “Tourism Law,” proposed by the Cabinet. Recognising the vital role tourism plays in Oman’s economy, culture, and society, this law aims to simplify regulatory procedures for tourism activities, elevate service quality in the hospitality and tourism sector, and foster sustainable tourism development. These measures align with the national vision Oman 2040, aiming for a flourishing tourism industry that enhances the country’s image on the global stage.

Council’s Commitment
During the session, the State Council also addressed “Legislative and Regulatory Guidelines for E-commerce” and “Electric Vehicles: Adaptation and Advancement.” The council members actively participated and engaged in constructive discussions, shaping unified views on proposed laws and projects. They expressed their trust in the Council’s commitment to fulfilling its responsibilities and duties under the wise leadership of His Majesty the Sultan.

The Ministry of Transport, Communications, and Information Technology’s intensive efforts, in collaboration with the private sector, to strengthen Oman’s infrastructure for electric vehicles is a testament to the country’s determination to lead the way in green mobility. With ambitious plans to install over 140 public chargers by the end of 2023 and more than 350 public chargers by the end of 2026, Oman is well on its way to achieving its vision of a sustainable, electric-powered future.

We begin with an exploratory meeting to discuss and observe who you are and what your vision is. Once we understand the scope and scale of your business, we analyse it and revert in five business days with a report on our understanding of the project. Once we achieve a synchrony, we will provide you an outline on the way forward.

No, we don’t charge for a friendly discussion to understand each other’s potential. However, we would appreciate an NDA between us to ensure all your information is kept confidential. Our outline report will contain broad strokes of our plan and overall directions we should be heading. Once we have a clear understanding of the Outline Report, we always start with a comprehensive Business Report. This is by far the most important document of any venture, therefore our BR contains the business plan, a Use of Funds Report and a Cash Flow Projection. The first bit of investment you will make is to commission us to produce the BR. Thereon we’d be providing you with fixed fees for the duration of the project so there are no surprises.
